Just words...

This morning
I looked into the mirror
And was able to see
A reflection of a girl
That looked just like me

Guided through her mind
I glimpsed
Flashes of a “she”,
Someone who I once
Had aspired to be

Her eyes, full of hope,
Shone through,
Showing her energy
And her sadness too.

But all of a sudden
That image departed!
I gazed back into the mirror
Looking quite startled
For what I had seen
Was actually another me
Someone that I no longer aspired to be…
